The Island Fringe, a member of the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals, is the only 100% site-specific Fringe Festival in the world. Fringe Festivals have been popular for over 30 years in cities across the globe.  The Island Fringe connects Prince Edward Island to an international network of Fringe Festivals, while adding vibrancy and cultural activity to our capital city.

Inspired by the unconventional shows that Fringe Festivals are famous for, the Island Fringe team creates unconventional theatrical venues in indoor and outdoor spaces throughout downtown Charlottetown. The site-specific nature of the Festival brings diverse audiences to the shows and reveals our city’s capacity to inspire creativity. Island Fringe performances transform the city’s ordinary public spaces into extraordinary places where the worlds of the plays come alive.
