Concert Of The Symphony Orchestra And Chorus Esperanza Azteca Ciudad Juarez

Concert Of The Symphony Orchestra And Chorus Esperanza Azteca Ciudad Juarez

The Consulate General of Mexico in El Paso and the City of Las Cruces are pleased to invite the binational community of the Paso del Norte region to a concert of the Symphonic Orchestra and Chorus “Esperanza Azteca” Ciudad Juarez, to be held next Saturday March 21st, 2015 at 15:00 in the Oñate High School Auditorium (5700 Mesa Grande Drive) from the city of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Symphony Orchestra and Chorus “Esperanza Azteca” Ciudad Juarez

Created through the project Esperanza Azteca, the symphony orchestra and chorus of the same name of Ciudad Juarez are integrated by approximately 150 children and young ones, aged 5 to 17 years old. Under the direction of Guillermo Quezada Novela M.A., they were created in 2010 and debuted in June 2011, showing a great performance quality that has lead them to participate in various cultural forums, both national and international. Among them, the International Festival of Chihuahua and performances in Los Angeles, San Diego, California and El Paso, Texas.

Esperanza Azteca is a social project driven by Fundacion Azteca with the purpose of giving support to the personal development of children and young Mexicans. Through the teaching of music they have benefited, since 2009, more than 16,000 young people, who have not only developed musical skills, but also values such as discipline, the pursuit of excellence and teamwork. Overall, this is an effort supported by Mexico’s federal government, several State administrations, local Patronage and Grupo Salinas

As the summer season cools down, the days and nights are perfect for spending time at the fair. Be sure to add it to your entertainment lineup to see what’s new in food, exhibits, competitions and special themes, because they change every year.

So many people attend the New Mexico State Fair every year. Locals enjoy coming back again and again, and many visitors come from outside Albuquerque and some from other states to enjoy what the State Fair has to offer. There is a lot to love about the fair, whether a young child enjoying the barnyard animals or a teen swinging high in the air on a thrill ride. Adults love it too, for its great entertainment and of course, the wide variety of food.

When is the State Fair?

The 2012 New Mexico State Fair runs from Wednesday, September 12 through Sunday the 23. There will be NO dark days this year, so the fair will run 13 consecutive days.

When is the Parade?

Everyone loves a parade, and the State Fair parade never disappoints. This year’s theme for the parade is Everyday is a Holiday. The parade starts 8:45 a.m on Saturday, September 15, starting at the corner of Louisiana and Central. The parade will travel east to about Eubank Boulevard.

What are the State Fair Theme Days?

The theme days at the New Mexico State Fair change each day. Be sure to find out when to go to maximize your visit.

New Mexico State Fair Admission

Adult: $10

Senior: (ages 62 and up): $7

Children 6-12: $7

Children 5 and under are free.

What Do You Get With Admission?

The State Fair has a lot going on, and you don’t have to spend a lot to have a good time. Many activities are free once you have paid the entrance fee. Visit the 4-H exhibits, McDonald’s Farm, the rodeos and more, all at no charge. Of course, the food is always a temptation!

Carnival

For many, especially the kids, the Carnival is the ultimate destination at the fair. Ticket prices for daily passes are $20 Monday through Thursday; Friday, Saturday and Sunday the all day ride pass is $25. Tickets can be picked up at the Murphy Brothers kiosks in the Midway.

Rodeo

The rodeo includes the barrel racing you’d expect at a rodeo, but live music is part of the venue every year, making this a bargain entertainment ticket.

Rodeo tickets are $16 – $37.50

Admission to the State Fair is included IF tickets are purchased by August 31.

Purchase tickets at Ticketmaster, all Ticketmaster outlets and at the Tingley Coliseum Box Office. All rodeo-concert events begin at 7 p.m.

Las Cruces festivals and events of worldwide fame

The Border Book Festival occurs the last weekend in April. It features a trade show, readings, workshops, panels, lucha libre, and family storytelling. The festival was founded in 1994 by authors Denise Chávez and Susan Tweit, and Chávez is the Executive Director of the festival.
Two wine festivals are held each year, one over Memorial Day weekend and one over Labor Day weekend. They are held at the fairgrounds just west of the city.

The Whole Enchilada Fiesta, held the last weekend in September, is southern New Mexico’s most popular festival, with about 50,000 people attending each year. The centerpiece is the making of a large flat enchilada. The fiesta started in 1980 with a 6-foot (1.8 m) diameter enchilada, and it has grown over the years. In 2000 the fiesta’s 10 1⁄2-foot-diameter (3.2 m) enchilada was certified by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest. After the enchilada is assembled it is cut into many pieces and served to the fiesta attendees. The enchilada is the brainchild of local restaurant owner Roberto V. Estrada, who directs its preparation each year. The celebration also features a parade, live music, art and crafts, athletic events, a carnival, and a car and motorcycle show.

The Southern New Mexico State Fair, usually held the first week in October at the fairgrounds west of Las Cruces, promotes traditional agriculture. Boasting one of the largest Junior Livestock Shows in the state, the fair invites youth from six counties in New Mexico and Texas to participate.

The local Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) originated in Mexico, and is a celebration of the lives of those now dead. It is held November 1–2 by The Calavera Coalition, a nonprofit organization. The event is held at the plaza in Mesilla, and the Branigan Cultural Center in downtown Las Cruces.

The Renaissance ArtsFaire, founded in 1971, includes a juried art show and is put on the by the Dona Ana Arts Council each year in November. It is held at Young Park.
