Bounty-ful: A Taste Of The Farm Stand

Bounty-ful: A Taste Of The Farm Stand

Join Boston Collaborative for Food and Fitness, Councilor Tito Jackson, and our partners as we Celebrate the Fruits of Our Ocean TM at the Roxbury YMCA for a special seafood event!

At this event, you will get the chance to watch a Seafood Throwdown between chefs Mike Hanley of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Jeffrey Walker of JD’s Catering, judged by Carol Kong of Haley House, Kevin Washington of YMCA of Greater Boston and a youth program participants from La Sociedad Latina and the Whittier Street Health Center, with ingredients courtesy of Egleston Farmers Market and Red’s Best.

This family-friendly event is complete with special activities just for children. Celebrate the Fruits of Our Ocean TM will be offering free tastings of the delicious seafood dish prepared for a limited number of attendees who register at the market on the day of the event. There will also be an exciting conversation led by Emcee Councilor Tito Jackson about sustainability and seasonality of local dayboat seafood, food policy, and cooking with local ingredients.

Join us for second annual Bounty-ful: A Taste of the Farm Stand fundraiser to support the Boston Bounty Bucks program of Boston Collaborative for Food and Fitness. The event is held on Friday, October 17, 2014 from 6:00-8:30pm at the Benjamin Franklin Institute in the South End neighborhood of Boston. Bounty-ful will highlight tasting bites from local chefs, farm stand food producers, as well as samplings of local wine, spirits, and brews. This is a 21+ event.

What better way to support your local community than by sampling food from a variety of delicious local restaurants and food producers? Proceeds from this fundraiser help raise critical funds for Boston Bounty Bucks. The Boston Bounty Bucks program offers an affordable way to increase access to fresh, healthy and local food for low income residents of Boston. The event promises to be a great way to celebrate the harvest with local foodies while raising funds for a worthy cause.

Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at For more information about Bounty Bucks and the Boston Farmers Market program, visit or call 617-203-2073, ext. 4.
